Word Feast? That is what we are calling a weekend of giving ourselves to being in the presence of God through worship and word. January 2 – 4 we will gather here at High Point Foursquare Church. There will be worship through song and there will be prophetic teaching and preaching from the Word of God anointed of the Holy Spirit. All are invited to come PARTICIPATE in feasting on the presence of God and the Word of God. Jon and Helen Jenkins will be with us during the Sunday AM and PM gatherings. Friday night at 7pm we will open with worship through song followed by the first message of the evening. Saturday at 8:30 AM we will begin with fellowship in the CafĂ© and then head up for worship through song and anointed teachings from pastors and congregates as well. We are not setting times for the breaks for we have not predetermined the messages or time given for said messages. We believe this weekend will lead us into a new year that promises a new wine of God’s presence and anointing upon our church.
Pastor Jack Hayford at our Historic District Conference attributed to God the revelation that the previous 4 years have been years of reclaiming and now the advancing. We will be advancing into ’09 anticipating God to pour out new wine filling us afresh and anew with the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 5:17–21 speaks, “Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God.

Tis the Season
Tis the season … the season, which after 400 years of silence God begins to make His voice heard. That an elderly couple given up on any hope of a lineage or of the glory acclaimed to parents find themselves pondering the angels message of “now a child.” That a young girl no doubt engrossed in the enthusiasm, and perhaps a little fear, of being betrothed discovers she is to conceive before she knows her husband. And the young man finding out the greatest day of his life already comes with “baggage.” Upon the assurance of God, who remember is making Himself known in some incredible ways, the betrothed couple can be at peace and bring forth their expectant joy. However they are told to travel because we need to fulfill “The Plan” even if it means a discomforting journey away from home during this most “tri mester ing” time. And if all the joy of the season has not warmed your heart yet, when you leave here, do not go home. There are those who want to kill your baby you must go hide until I let you know it is safe. Perhaps not the way we would write the Christmas story, but God, who “so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son” was starting something big!

The Universe at Large
The Universe at Large! Well maybe not the entire universe but the sphere you live in. What makes your world go ‘round? At times we live responding to the forces that seemingly want to rip us into so many pieces there is no resemblance of our original state. We hear from scientist that that really is how we got our universe, bam! Interesting enough, God says that if we try to save our life we will lose it and if we (voluntarily) lose our life we will find it. No not by merely allowing ourselves to be the rope in the tug-of-war played by all those who want our energy, money and blood. But by yielding ourselves to the One who truly created all and created us to be a part of His overall plan. By becoming a disciple of Christ and discovering the disciplines He desires we live by, we can discover a peace that passes all understanding even though at times we are living in the midst of a storm.

Fall Festival?
Tonight at our church that averages 60+ people on Sunday morning we will host 200 + neighbors for a Fall Festival. A free night of food, fun and fellowship. Kids will get prizes and candy, they will jump in the inflatable "Moon Walk" and they will "rock" climb and slide down the other side.
Our worship teams music will rock the neighborhood echoing through the streets. It's suppose to be in the 40's so hot chocolate will be at a premium. We cook lots of hot dogs and are amazed at how many some can eat. I am sure there are those who question the expense of the evening and the energy given to such an event. I ask myself why this evening means so much to me?
Oh to see the joy on the children's faces! Some of them as old as 50, haha. It thrills my heart to see our campus as a place where people can have fun. I stand amazed at the appreciation expressed by all the participants. And at nights end all the exhausted volunteers also are overwhelmed by the impact the evening has on our neighbors. The eternal value I may never know, I do know, that for one night everyone seems to put aside all differences and enjoy an evening of simplicity and community.
And like the little girls in the old shake and bake commercial we can say with our southern twang, "And we help!"

Outside Your Window
What is outside your window? God has used the view outside my window to "speak" to me on multiple occasions. Interesting enough if I began to expound on these occasions you may quickly identify or I might just as quickly lose your interest, depending on what is outside your window.
Living in a town home for a period Beth and I would look out our kitchen window to see our neighbors and their beautiful little daughter eating dinner. It was a picture of future and hope. In our early years Ty was entering the youth stage and we had a small youth group. It seem so difficult to attract new youth to the church. Sitting at my desk one day I watch the field across the street as neighborhood youth played ball and enjoyed the afternoon. Duh, God said, "Bring the youth group to the neighborhood." Hot dogs cooked out in the front yard with invitation to whosoever will opened up a new season of ministry.
Perhaps more importantly than what is outside our window is whose eyes are we looking through? With our human eyes the picture may be frightening or hopelessness, but with God's eyes there are opportunities abounding to bring heaven to earth. Interesting, one of the first things we did at HPFC is install new windows!

stretching my legs
I just finished flying to Hawaii and back and no my arms are not tired. I am however reminded of why I do not like long flights, my legs. With long legs and the closeness of airline seats I took opportunity to stretch my legs often. The destination, Hawaii, of course made all the time spent in flight well worth the discomfort.
In life there are often opportunities that await us just outside our comfort zone. Sometimes we may have memories of our last travel and it causes us to question whether it is worth the journey. Just as Hawaii was worth the sacrifice of the flight, there awaits a future with God whose plans sometimes seem beyond the boundaries of our limitations. We stretch a little along the way, stay on board, make the connections and eventually we reach a destination well worth the sacrifice of our journey.
